Acupuncture for IVF & IUI Support

Protocol-Aware Care Before, During, and Between Cycles

IUI and IVF are highly structured, and the care around them works best when it fits that structure. At ECHO, treatment is built around your clinic’s protocol and timeline, and adjusted as your protocol changes. It’s designed to work alongside your reproductive endocrinologist’s plan, not replace or compete with it.

Research on acupuncture and IVF outcomes is mixed, and we don’t promise results. What we can offer is timed, coordinated support for the phases where it makes the most sense: preparing the months before a cycle, managing stimulation and medication effects, and supporting you around retrieval and transfer.

When People Seek Support

  • Before a cycle: preparing in the months ahead, since egg and sperm development each take about three months

  • During stimulation: supporting comfort and recovery capacity, and managing medication effects such as bloating, headaches, mood changes, and fatigue

  • Around retrieval: supporting preparation and recovery

  • Around insemination or embryo transfer: treatment timed to your clinic’s schedule, including the days surrounding transfer

  • Between cycles: recovery and preparation for the next attempt, including a second look at what’s been evaluated

  • After an unsuccessful cycle: reviewing what was learned from the cycle, and deciding what is worth addressing before the next one

  • Frozen transfers: preparation of the lining and cycle timing, coordinated with your clinic’s medication schedule

Why Timing Matters

Support tends to be most useful when it starts earlier and continues consistently, not only on transfer day. Sessions are scheduled around your clinic’s calendar rather than a fixed weekly cadence: before a cycle to prepare, during stimulation, around retrieval, and in the days surrounding transfer.

How East Asian Medicine Fits

  • Acupuncture is used to support blood flow to the pelvic organs, lower stress-driven physiological load, and ease treatment-related symptoms.

  • Chinese herbal medicine is most useful in the months before a cycle and between cycles. During active medication phases, formulas are adjusted or paused based on your protocol, with attention to your clinic’s guidance.

  • Targeted supplementation fills gaps identified in your history and labs, reviewed against what your clinic already recommends.

  • Cycle and lifestyle guidance covers sleep, digestion, activity, and stress between visits.

Coordinating With Your Clinic

Tell us your clinic, protocol, and timeline at your first visit. We’ll plan around them. Please continue all prescribed medications and monitoring. Where something comes up that needs your doctor’s input, such as symptoms, a question about testing, or a change in protocol, we’ll help you bring it to them.

What to Expect

Your first visit covers your fertility history, previous cycles, current protocol, available labs and imaging, and what you most want help with. After that, treatment is scheduled around your clinic’s calendar, typically before a cycle, during stimulation, around retrieval, and before and after transfer.
