Male Fertility & Sperm Health
Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine & Care Coordination for Sperm Count, Motility, Morphology & DNA Fragmentation
Male factor is involved in roughly half of cases where conception is taking longer than expected, yet it often gets less evaluation than the female side. At ECHO, male fertility care starts with the data: your semen analysis if you have one, and if you don’t, we’ll help you arrange one. From there, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine target the factors that can be influenced, and we refer you to a urologist or physician for what needs a closer look. This applies whether you’re trying without assisted reproduction or preparing for IUI or IVF.

Start With the Full Picture
Sperm quality reflects overall health, including hormones, circulation, stress, sleep, weight, and exposures. At your first visit we'll go over options and help coordinate care for:
-
Sperm analysis
-
Hormone and metabolic labs
-
Medications and supplements that can affect sperm, such as testosterone therapy, which suppresses sperm production
-
Heat, smoking, alcohol, and occupational exposures
-
Varicocele or other findings that call for urology follow-up
Where something warrants it, we help you take it to the right provider and know what to ask.

What We Support

-
Count, motility, and morphology: low count, poor movement, abnormal shape
-
Elevated DNA fragmentation: supporting the factors linked to it, such as oxidative stress, inflammation, and lifestyle
-
Unexplained male infertility: when parameters are borderline or no cause has been found
-
IVF and IUI preparation: optimizing sperm quality ahead of assisted reproduction
-
Varicocele-related concerns: alongside urologic care
-
Hormonal and stress-related changes: low testosterone, disrupted FSH/LH signaling, or chronic stress affecting sperm production
-
General reproductive health: energy, libido, and sexual function
How East Asian Medicine Fits
Sperm takes about 74 days to develop, so changes from any approach show up in semen analysis roughly two to three months after consistent care begins.
-
Chinese herbal medicine provides day-to-day support between sessions. Formulas are individualized to your pattern and screened against your medications.
-
Acupuncture supports circulation, hormonal signaling, and stress physiology.
-
Targeted supplementation fills gaps identified in your history and labs, using professional-grade products.
-
Lifestyle guidance covers heat exposure, sleep, activity, alcohol, and diet, which strongly influence sperm quality and are often the fastest wins.
Research on acupuncture and herbal medicine for sperm parameters is promising but limited, and results vary from person to person. We track progress with follow-up semen analysis.

What to Expect
Your first visit covers your health history, and lifestyle factors, and what else may be contributing to the picture. Most people plan for at least three months of consistent care to cover a full sperm development cycle, with a follow-up semen analysis at that point to see what’s changed. Herbal medicine between sessions provides the continuous daily support.
