Your Care at ECHO
What to Expect
You've booked your first appointment. Here's what to know before you come in — so you can arrive prepared and we can make the most of your time together.
Before Your First Visit
You'll receive an intake form by email after booking. Plan for about 30 minutes to complete it — more if your health history is complex. Completing it in advance matters: your consult time is reserved for the conversation, not the paperwork.
A few practical notes:
-
Wear or bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows access to your arms, legs, and lower back
-
Eat something beforehand — receiving acupuncture on an empty stomach isn't recommended
-
Please avoid strong scents — the space is shared and some patients are sensitive
-
Arrive with a sense of what you most want to address, even if it's broad — the intake will help refine it
Finding Us
We're located in the annex behind the historic Fields' House. Look for the building with the ramp and the door with the ECHO logo. Give yourself a few extra minutes on your first visit to find the space.
Parking is available in the lot in front of Fields' House or along the street on the same side.
Your First Visit
What your first visit looks like depends on what you've booked.
For a comprehensive care appointment, your first session includes a full clinical intake — a detailed conversation about your health history, current concerns, and what you're hoping to change. This takes longer than follow-up visits and is the foundation everything else is built on. Treatment follows the intake, so you'll receive acupuncture at your first appointment. Come ready to talk. The more context you can give, the better we can work with it.
For wellness acupuncture, cupping, or other standalone services, the intake is lighter — focused on what's relevant to your session that day.
Once treatment begins, the room is quiet and dim. You'll rest for 30–40 minutes while the needles are retained. Most people find this deeply relaxing — it's common to doze off.
If payment is due, it processes automatically at the end of your session — no checkout desk.

How Often You'll Come In
This depends on what you're coming in for. Acute presentations tend to resolve more quickly and require fewer visits. Chronic or complex conditions typically require a more consistent course of care to build momentum and hold gains over time. We'll discuss frequency at your first visit based on your specific situation.
For wellness acupuncture, cupping, and other standalone services, visits are self-directed — come as often as feels right for you, whether that's weekly, monthly, or simply when you feel like you need it.
After Your Visit
Responses vary. You might feel relaxed, tired, clearer, or emotionally lighter — all of these are normal. Notice what shifts over the next day or two. That information helps guide what comes next.
Between Appointments
What happens between sessions matters. If something significant shifts — for better or worse — reach out rather than waiting for your next visit. Changes in symptoms, reactions, or anything that feels clearly off are all worth reporting. The more we know about how your body is responding, the better we can adjust.
For general questions, text is fastest or you can email our Care Coordination Team at hello@echoacupuncture.com. For anything medically specific, you'll receive your practitioner's direct HIPAA-compliant email after your first visit — that's the best channel for anything clinical.
