Oregon Health Plan (OHP)

At ECHO, we accept most forms of OHP, with a few exceptions depending on your Coordinated Care Organization (CCO). You’re welcome to reach out to confirm whether we’re in network with your specific plan.

Unlike many commercial plans, OHP may also cover acupuncture for addiction recovery or smoking cessation when a referral is provided.

Medicare & Medicare Advantage

We are unable to accept Original Medicare (Part B).

Some Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans include acupuncture benefits administered through private networks (such as ASH or Heraya). Coverage varies by plan and by condition. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, we’re happy to help check whether we’re in network and whether your visits may be eligible—just send us an email.

Using Insurance at ECHO

If you plan to use insurance, please book your appointment at least 24 hours in advance so we have time to verify benefits. If you have any questions before booking, please email us.

Many insurance plans cover acupuncture for pain-related conditions, or for nausea related to pregnancy or chemotherapy, but coverage varies widely. Some plans are limited to specific diagnoses, while others offer broader benefits.

We’re happy to verify benefits as a courtesy once you’re booked, but we also recommend confirming coverage directly with your insurer. For OHP and TriWest, a referral from a primary care provider is required.

We’re continually expanding our insurance networks. If your plan isn’t listed but you feel drawn to our clinic, reach out—we’re happy to check on your coverage.

We accept Auto Injury claims (no medical referral required) and Workers’ Compensation cases (referral required) for qualifying acupuncture treatment. If your doctor or case manager has approved treatment, please contact us before booking. We’ll confirm referral requirements and help coordinate any needed documentation.

Yes. If you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA), you can either:

• Pay directly with your FSA/HSA card at the time of service, or

• Pay out of pocket and use the superbill we provide to request reimbursement from your FSA/HSA administrator.

Important details:

• FSA/HSA funds can only be used for expenses related to a diagnosed medical issue—not for general wellness or preventative care.

• This process is separate from health insurance. If you need a superbill for out-of-network insurance reimbursement, we can prepare one in the correct format for that purpose.

Scar work or moxa can be added to private acupuncture sessions when clinically appropriate. Please ask during your appointment—no need to book separately. Add-on fee applies.

We offer community acupuncture on a sliding scale, as well as package options for those looking to be seen regularly and go deeper with their care. These packages are designed to make out-of-pocket care more accessible and affordable—especially for conditions not typically covered by insurance.
