Adjunctive Cancer Care

Supportive acupuncture and East Asian Medicine to help you feel more steady — during treatment and beyond.

Cancer treatment can be physically intense and emotionally disorienting. Even when you feel well-supported medically, it’s common to want more help with the day-to-day: sleep, appetite, digestion, pain, fatigue, anxiety, dryness, neuropathy, or simply more support staying comfortable and regulated day to day.

Adjunctive care is about support. At ECHO, acupuncture and East Asian Medicine are used alongside oncology care to help regulate the nervous system, reduce treatment-related side effects, and improve comfort and quality of life—gently, safely, and with deep respect for what your body is already carrying.

What this care can support

Support looks different for different people. Some come in actively receiving chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, or hormone therapy. Others are recovering from surgery, rebuilding after treatment, or living with cancer as a long-term condition.

Adjunctive acupuncture may help support:

  • Nausea, appetite changes, and digestive disruption

  • Fatigue and low stamina

  • Sleep disturbance

  • Anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm

  • Pain, tension, and post-surgical recovery

  • Hot flashes and temperature swings

  • Dry mouth, dryness, or throat discomfort

  • Headaches

  • Neuropathy (tingling, numbness, burning)

  • Immune support and nervous system regulation

If you’re not sure whether your symptoms “count,” that’s okay. Many people simply want help feeling more regulated, comfortable, and supported in their body again.

Safety and coordination with oncology care

Adjunctive care works best when it’s integrated thoughtfully.

  • I’ll ask about your diagnosis, current treatment plan, medications, and timing of infusions/surgeries.

  • Acupuncture is generally considered safe when appropriately adapted, but we’ll adjust for things like low platelets, low neutrophils, anticoagulant use, ports, lymphedema risk, radiation sites, and surgical recovery.

  • Herbal medicine is approached with extra care in the context of cancer treatment. If herbs are considered, we’ll move slowly, coordinate thoughtfully, and keep safety and interaction risk at the center.

This care is supportive and does not replace oncology treatment. It is not presented as a cure for cancer.

When care tends to help most

Some people want support as-needed—for nausea spikes, sleep disruptions, or stress peaks.

Others feel best with consistent care during a specific window (for example, during active treatment, or in the months after).

As a general rhythm:

  • During active treatment: weekly or every-other-week can help maintain steadiness and reduce side effect intensity.

  • Recovery / rebuilding: weekly at first, then spacing out as the body stabilizes.

  • Long-term support: monthly or seasonal “maintenance” for regulation, pain, or nervous system support.

We’ll choose a pace that respects your bandwidth.

Who this is for

This care may be a good fit if you’re:

  • navigating chemo, radiation, immunotherapy, hormone therapy, or surgery

  • dealing with side effects that are wearing you down

  • recovering post-treatment and trying to feel like yourself again

  • living with cancer over time and wanting ongoing support

  • craving a quiet space for your body to exhale

If you’re unsure where you fall, you don’t need to have it all figured out before booking. We’ll start where you are.
