Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture is a gentle and modern enhancement of traditional acupuncture that uses small clips and a low-frequency electrical current to generate consistent and rhythmic stimulation at selected points. It's especially effective for conditions like chronic pain, musculoskeletal tension, nerve-related symptoms, and certain internal imbalances where additional stimulation helps restore flow and function.

The sensation during electroacupuncture is typically minimal—often described as a soft tapping, pulsing, or mild vibration—and is carefully adjusted for comfort. It is safe, deeply regulating, and can be an excellent option when the body needs a little extra encouragement to shift out of holding patterns.

At ECHO Acupuncture, electroacupuncture is thoughtfully integrated when appropriate to support deeper healing from the inside out.

When Electroacupuncture Is Used at ECHO
Electroacupuncture is not applied routinely — it's chosen when the body's presentation calls for it. It tends to be most useful when:
-
pain or tension has become entrenched and isn't shifting with standard acupuncture alone
-
nerve pathways need more direct stimulation to support recovery or regeneration
-
muscle activation needs to be maintained — particularly in facial nerve palsy recovery
-
deeper tissue or motor point work is indicated for musculoskeletal conditions

It is always used within a broader individualized treatment plan, not as a standalone protocol.

Common Conditions Where It May Be Indicated
-
Chronic and persistent pain — back, neck, shoulder, hip, and knee
-
Neuropathy and nerve dysfunction — including diabetic and chemotherapy-related neuropathy
-
Facial nerve palsy and Bell's palsy — supporting nerve regeneration and muscle activation
-
Sciatica and radiculopathy — nerve compression with radiating pain or altered sensation
-
Muscle atrophy or weakness following injury or nerve damage
-
Post-surgical recovery — where deeper tissue stimulation supports healing
-
Fibromyalgia and widespread pain sensitization
